SPARWOOD MUSEUM
A community museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the histories of Sparwood , Corbin , Michel , Middletown and Natal .
The geology of the Elk Valley has provided a rich income for settlers for over 120 years . The Elk Valley ’ s mining activity is now centred around Sparwood , and the Sparwood Museum tells the story of how the coal has been mined , how local communities have come and gone , and how local residents have lived through good times and bad .
The Museum is found towards the end of the Sparwood Mural and Mine Artifacts Walking Tour ( see next page ) and can provide additional information on the items found on the tour . The Museum is open daily in the fall .
This fall , the Museum will launch a new Walking Tour App from OnThisSpot to provide further insights about sights found on the walking tour . The Sparwood Museum is facilitating renovations at the Hosmer Mine site to provide additional visitor resources , and is also working on a new display highlighting significant recent paleontological discoveries at the Line Creek Mine . Enquire at the Museum for details of all these exciting new developments !
