THE FERNIE BANNER PROJECT
Colourful banners by local artists line streets in Historic Downtown Fernie and along Hwy # 3 each year. New banners have been produced and updated annually since 2005.
OUT OF THE BOX DUMPSTERS Fernie’ s dumpsters have been works of art since 2014. See P7 for details of this year’ s Out of the Box Dumpster Painting Event at Station Square.
Visit theartsstation. com for info.
OTHER ART
As you stroll, drop by Fernie’ s coffee shops and boutique stores to find art-for-sale and unique local gifts. Locations include Giv’ er Shirtworks, Polar Peek Books & Treasures, Freshies, Coal Town Goods, Big Bang Bagels, The Green Petal and Ace Ferguson Pop-up Shop.
Around Fernie there’ s even more to discover including guerilla art by Aiden Lindsay, Liam Monaghan, and Milarkey behind The Royal and The Castle on First, and an entire house hand-painted by Troy Cook behind the Raging Elk Hostel.
A 60ft historical mural can be seen inside the TD Bank, and a variety of artisan glass windows both old and new, can be seen at several historical buildings. Watch for pop-up art displays and exhibits appearing in town as Fernie’ s artists explore new ways to share their work.
