130 YEARS OF FERNIE HISTORY
The Fernie Museum has welcomed over 100,000 visitors since it opened to the public in 2013 . The Museum features two floors of exhibit space , a gift shop and visitor information area . and textiles from master spinner Gayle Vallance , magnets and ornaments from Wild Wolves Designs , earrings from Pawsome Jewellery by Cathy Smith- Clarke , art cards by Melanie MacVoy and paintings and prints by local artist and printmaker , Michael Hepher .

The museum gift shop features a curated collection of items inspired directly by the museum ’ s collection , and life in Fernie . Products include a range of books featuring local and Canadian history , and Fernie & area -inspired items and local artwork including local weaving

This Is Our Fernie explores the legends and mythology , fires and mining disasters , and stories of the commercial , sporting , and community life over the past 100 + years . Information is presented through a series of engaging displays including a timeline , artifact collections , and digital kiosks . Kids love exploring the ‘ see and feel ’ identification boxes and working century-old cash register and discovery drawers .
