The Fernie Heritage Library is a place to discover and nurture a love of literature and language . Drop in to pick up a book or movie to take home , stay a while and enjoy storytime or a special social event . Curl up in a huge leather armchair by the sunny upstairs windows to enjoy the view of the Lizard Range and folklore of old Fernie . More than you imagine , the Fernie Heritage Library brings words to life .
BUILDING FERNIE ’ S LITERARY HERITAGE
Housed in the beautiful historic former Customs & Post Office building in the heart of Fernie , the Fernie Heritage Library has provided library services and programs for over one hundred years .
The Library has been recognized for its excellence in community programming and engagement and offers three floors of books , magazines and reference materials , a research and study room , computer use , and fax , copy , and scan services .
In all seasons , it is a cozy refuge ; warm in winter , cool in summer .

ENGAGING PROGRAMMING FOR ALL
The Library features a regular schedule of storytime for babies , toddlers and young children , hosted by Michelle in the garden whenever possible . For school-aged children , there are craft , activity , and story-themed sessions held throughout the summer , plus a new craft pack to take away every week .
On June 21 , the Library celebrates National Indigenous Day with local Ktunaxa stories and activities honouring and celebrating Canada ’ s First Peoples . Splish Splash Sploosh is a highlight of the Library summer calendar , held on July 20 at the Splash Park at Fernie Aquatic Centre featuring DJ Jay Ray and tons of fun in the sun !
The seasonal shade tent , free wifi and giant games make the Library garden a great place to hang out . Four legged friends are welcome to join you and help themselves to the stick library !
