Originally from Brazil , Marina Wolff began her career in chocolate making 10 years ago after her son Leonardo was born . She learned the art of chocolate as a side hustle while living in Curitiba . Along with her husband and son , she moved first to Edmonton , and then to Sparwood when husband Ricardo started working with Teck . She says the Elk Valley chose them , and they have slowly enjoyed the transition from a city lifestyle to being outdoor folk , enjoying the trails and Sparwood ’ s wildlife .
Marina Wolff Chocolatier opened on March 11 , 2021 in Sparwood . The focus is on high quality ingredients that go beyond design and packaging ; although there ’ s no skimping there either , with stylish gift boxes that anyone would be delighted to receive .
She uses 100 % natural ingredients and pure Belgian chocolate . Within the past year , Wolff has earned a reputation for excellence and her caramels have quickly become a best seller . She loves to create special lines for the ‘ Chocolate ’ holidays , including spectacular jewel-toned eggs for Easter and a smashable chocolate heart for Valentine ’ s Day , complete with a tiny wooden hammer . Winter featured decadent hot chocolate bombs and gingerbread and peppermint bonbons . Year round , the store features a range of bars , filled chocolates and mediants – chocolate coins topped with fruit , nuts , candies and textures .
For summer , watch for the return of fresh and fruity flavours to tempt your tastebuds , grab a chocolate bar for a perfect trail treat or try a chocolate dipped ice-cream on a hot summer day . Wolff also takes custom orders and has created special items for gender reveals , baby showers and weddings .
