The Green Petal specialises in design workshops , perfect for groups , singles and couples who enjoy a creative social evening . Watch for a Thanksgiving Centrepiece workshop coming in the fall , featuring beautiful colours and seasonal accents . Owner Desiree moved from Saskatchewan to BC , working in a garden centre in horticulture and all things botanical , and then training at The Green Petal in Fernie . She opened Moonlight Flowers in early 2022 offering a wide range of floral services and managing a cutting garden where she sources some of the flowers for her arrangements .
Lowering the impact of the floral industry is a focus for this new company .
Desiree recommends choosing flowers that are in season for the best quality and value . While most flowers can now be sourced year-round , these will be imported when out of season , pushing up the cost and potentially reducing the longevity and appearance of the blooms .
