THIS FALL AT THE ARTS STATION
The grounds of the Arts Station are newly invigorated with a huge new mural by local artists Tara Higgins and Becca Davies . Grow with the Flow is a celebration of the passions of Fernie residents featuring heritage colours and a strong musical motif , making it the perfect backdrop for future Station Square events . The work is a collaboration between Higgins , a fine art painter , and Davies , an illustrator and printmaker . Originally intended as a 30ft mural , the artwork will now fill the entire 80ft wall with its bold use of colour and repeating patterns .
The highly anticipated Fernie Banner Project launches on its new date of September 7 this year . Drop by the gallery to see the new banners up close and personal , before they are installed along 2nd Ave .
Club Cre8 is an arts camp for kids aged K – G6 . 10am – 3:30pm . Full and halfday options available , bookings required . Fall dates are September 23 & October 21 .
If you enjoy seeing the work of The Fernie Spinners & Weavers Guild at Fernie Chautauqua this fall , join them for a Basket Weaving Intro on September 17 & 18 , followed by a Basket Weaving Masterclass on September 19 & 20 . As part of the Elk Valley Pride Festival , the Arts Station will host a Bike Decorating session on September 21 , and Drag Paint & Sip on September 23 .
Pottery Wine & Wheel is a fun opportunity to try your hand at pottery in a social setting . Fall dates are September 1 , October 5 and November 2 . 7pm , advance registration recommended . Jackie Impey will host a painting workshop on October 22 .
An Unconventional Life is a musical drama about a young Jewish woman who challenged the status quo and followed her dreams of an education . This West Kootenay production had its debut in 2018 and is now enjoying a limited tour of new dates . See it at the Arts Station on October 22 .
On November 25 as part of # spenditinfernie , the Arts Station will host Light Up the Arts with a variety of supporting events to be held throughout the fall to create artwork for the event . See website and social media for details .
