Drop in to pick up a book or movie to take home , stay a while and enjoy storytime or a special social event . Curl up in a huge leather armchair by the sunny upstairs windows to enjoy the view of the Lizard Range and folklore of old Fernie . More than you imagine , the Fernie Heritage Library brings words to life .
BUILDING FERNIE ’ S LITERARY HERITAGE
Housed in the beautiful historic former Customs & Post Office building in the heart of Fernie , the Fernie Heritage Library has provided library services and programs for over one hundred years .
The Library has been recognized for its excellence in community programming and engagement and offers three floors of books , magazines and reference materials , a research and study room , computer use , and fax , copy , and scan services .
In all seasons , it is a cozy refuge ; warm in winter , cool in summer .

ENGAGING PROGRAMMING FOR ALL
The Library features a regular schedule of storytime for babies , toddlers and young children , hosted by Michelle in the garden whenever possible . For school-aged children , there are craft , activity , and story-themed sessions held throughout the year , plus a new craft pack to take away every week .
Two-time Governor General ’ s Award winner David A . Robertson restarts the popular Booked ! Season on September 7 with a Q & A reception in the Library . These free events are very popular – arrive early to ensure seats . Cash bar and complimentary appetizers . The new , casual Reading in Plein Air is a chance to share a love of reading and books , in the Library Garden on Saturday afternoons in September and October .
The seasonal shade tent , free wifi and giant games make the Library garden a great place to hang out .
