The CITADEL brand was born more than 35 years ago out of our determination to offer high quality locks at a good price . Over the years the program has been expanded and optimized to offer reliable locks for a variety of situations , including U-lock , folding , cable , and brake disc locks . Additional features like hardened steel to protect against brutal attacks or high-quality cylinders to protect against picking lend our locks an additional degree of safety .
CITADEL classifies locks according to a ten grade security scale , with Level 10 being the highest level of security . The required level of security varies according to usage requirements .

Level 1-3
Locks in this category provide protection against opportunistic theft , making them the ideal com panion for tours where you will only make short stops . The advantage : the locks are light small , and easy to stow away .
Level 4-7
If you are accustomed to leaving your bike locked up for hours in urban or busy suburban locations , you should be using locks with a security level of at least 4-7 . These are also the appropriate locks for securing your bike in your basement or garage .
Level 8-10
Locks with the highest security level imply safety as impregnable as steel , and will keep your bike secure even if you have to leave it locked up for several hours in secluded places or in the city centre .
