Abian, Brisbane, Queensland.
The custom designed facade for Abian combines
performance and unrivalled aesthetics. Abian’s unique
‘skirt’ awning (levels three to nine) consists of a warped
facade that is curved in two planes. This was achieved by
cold bending all 1450 glass panels on-site using custom
engineered fixing brackets. The unique size and shape
of each skirt required detailed 3D modelling to ascertain
panel sizes and fabricate the compound mitre frames. The
free form shape creates high visual impact and achieves
uniform appearance through vision and spandrels.

This breathtaking feat of curtain wall engineering
enhances this imposing structure. Using high performance
glass and 20 per cent recycled aluminium, the
sustainability of the project was boosted by the use of
local materials.
