Dorrigo, New South Wales.
This iconic environmentally sustainable building is
an example of the benefits of local knowledge being
applied to regional developments. Features include a
Bellingen Solar battery photo voltaic hybrid system, a
Neighbourhood Heat Pump hydronic heating system,
stormwater polishing, harvested tank water supply and
worm farm sewage system. Cross ventilation, huge
thermal mass stores, double glazing, high value insulation
and planted roof assists in providing passive user comfort
and a healthy working environment.
JUDGES’ COMMENTS
This environmentally sustainable building utilises low-E
double glazing that allows in plenty of light – an important
consideration for well-being. The range of windows and
doors using commercial and designer framing add to the
aesthetic outcome.
