Winner AWA best use of windows & doors commercial renovation Distinct Aluminium Solutions The Calyx, Royal Botanic Gardens. Sydney, New South Wales. The judges were unanimous in their praise of the amazing transformation of the building brought about by the use of windows, doors, and overhead glazing. The glazing provides beauty both inside and out. The structurally glazed, heavy angle split mullions and recessed head and sill channels offer a seamless, frameless faceted radial façade. Large and heavy double glazed panels offer significant unimpeded views and high values of solar performance control. Automation of the glass louvres and vertically opening skylights give the environment within another degree of thermal control and superior architectural aesthetics. The glazing envelope now houses a spectacular botanical environment.
