Residential renovation
Stegbar
Righetti Lane
Yandoit, VIC
The building, situated in Yandoit in Victoria was originally
a church built in 1884 by Giacomo Sartori. After falling
into disrepair, it was acquired by a local builder and
resurrected into this unique home.
The design brief stipulated restoration of the nave as the
focal point of the home and maximisation of the sweeping
views across adjoining farmland to Mt Franklin.
Stegbar’s windows and doors are at the heart of the
design. All windows from the original church nave were
restored with custom Stegbar cedar windows. Stegbar
aluminium awning, casement and fixed windows and
hinged and sliding doors are used throughout the rest
of the home to create a feeling of extended space and
provide unobscured views of the rural scenery. This is
particularly evident in the kitchen on the western side
of the property with the large raked custom Stegbar
aluminium window.
JUDGES’ COMMENTS
The renovation has been balanced nicely between the
old and new, with the windows playing an excellent part.
Particular acknowledgement goes to the quality of the
replacement cedar windows within the church section.
