Magnetite (Australia) Pty Ltd
Martin Place, Sydney, NSW
Magnetite retrofit acrylic double glazing is a special markresistant glazing, manufactured by Mitsubishi Rayon. Imported
specifically for this project to ensure durability and consistency in
the product, this project represents the first time the glazing has
been used in Australia.
The product was chosen for three reasons: acoustics, aesthetics
and energy efficiency.
A year long process of testing, comparing and contrasting
options resulted in Magnetite being chosen to highlight the
heritage windows. Of all the products that met the project
requirement Magnetite had the lowest visual impact on the
existing windows due to the slim line nature of Magnetite’s
framing system.
The existing windows were repaired and remained in situ through
the project. This reduced building waste and land fill that would
have resulted with replacement windows. The Magnetite uPVC
framing, magnet, and acrylic glazing components can be recycled
at end of use.
