FEMS Journals Announce Article Award Winners 2019 All five of the FEMS journals have announced the winners of their Article Awards for 2019. This is the first year that all our journals have given these awards. The Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Boards of each journal selected the best article(s) from the scientific papers published in their journal, and each decided how to award a prize pot of €1,000 per journal. We have contacted all winners of an Article Award and will be releasing a series of in-depth interviews with each winning author/author group about their research and background, so stay tuned for that! Congratulations to: FEMS Microbiology Ecology Frederik Bak | Preferential flow paths shape the structure of bacterial communities in a clayey till depth profile Sarah Christofides (née Johnston) | Highly competitive fungi manipulate bacterial communities in decomposing beech wood Florian Lelchat | Viral degradation of marine bacterial exopolysaccharides Eeva Vainio | Viruses of fungi and oomycetes in the soil environment FEMS Microbiology Letters Sylvia Soldatou, Grimur Hjorleifsson Eldjarn, Alejandro Huerta-Uribe, Simon Rogers and Katherine Duncan | Linking biosynthetic and chemical space to accelerate microbial secondary metabolite discovery 6 28/01/2020
