Perspectives: International Day
of Women and Girls in Science
11 February was the International Day of Women and Girls in
Science. This day is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women,
in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners
that aim to promote women and girls in science. This day
is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and
participation in science for women and girls.
To help commemorate this awareness day, we asked women
across our network to share with us their experience of working
and studying in science. They presented to us a snapshot of the situation for women
working in science across Europe. They also presented their views on the best ways to help
improve the long term prospects for women and girls in science.
