l Soles Poem
Editor’s Letter:
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the second issue of my magazine!
This year, sexual harassment and sexual assault have been a big topic
online. TIME magazine elected women who bravely addressed their
experiences with sexual harassment as Person of the Year. The #Metoo
movement became a popular hashtag as more women owned the courage to stand up and share
their experiences. As I saw this news, these negatives things that have happened to women made
me sigh. Meanwhile, I appreciate how powerful women in the 21st century are. In social media
or real life, women these days are more willing to speak out and to take action. There have been
many independent, strong women in the past, but this year women are so influential that many of
my male friends even talk about these gender issues.
For my first zine, I put my focus on the campus. I interviewed many feminists in the community
and also reached out to some extraordinary women outside the campus. Making the first issue
made me want to interview more women outside the campus. I was grateful to talk to feminists
at school, but the experiences of women in the workplace was the focus point I was eager to have
for the second issue of Feminizine.
This time, I reached out to women alumnae in the workforce. I was surprised how nice they were
to agree to do these interviews. They shared a lot of their experiences dealing with career and
problems in the professions. I also asked many women and girls on campus to talk about their
sexual assault/sexual harassment stories anonymously. It was courageous to be willing to share
these stories, and, here, I want to thank these brave women for sharing their stories!
I also want to thank my family members who always support me to pursue my interests in zines
and feminism. I also want to thank my sponsors Zoe and Michael, who always help me to come
up with creative ideas for this magazine. After I finished the first issue of Feminizine, I have heard
many compliments from faculty members and students. It meant so much to me, and I cannot be-
lieve I’m making another one happen again! Hope you will enjoy this second issue of Feminizine!
Love,
Chief Editor and Art Director of Feminizine
