Feeling the Sunshine, Spring 2020

Sunshine.
Warmth.
Light.
Love.
Such necessities,
but seemingly impossible in this time of
Uncertainty.
The sun rays shining show the smiles on the seas of masked faces.
You can see joy without the curving of lips.
It’s in the sparkle of our eyes.
You can see the hope that at first appeared so buried
By the fabrics and surgical blankets,
By the carelessness causing quarantine,
By the loss of loved things.
But that warmth of knowing we are united,
As a people,
helps the sun shine through on these rainy days.
The umbrellas of light and love shade the weak from the wrath of the windy skies.
This feeling of sunshine on our necks reminds us what's worth fighting for,
Why we strive every day to be better
To do better.
The heat tells us how beautiful our earth is,
And how lucky we all are
To have this earth,
These people,
These animals,
This life.
This sunshine is wonderfully mighty,
And in abundance for all to use,
All to see,
All to love.
And love it we will.
