2. CONCEPT Figure ? shows Herzog and de Meuron’ Vitrahaus, Vitras Flagship store which functioned as a showroom of the company’ home collection, displayed throiught the space. The building was playfully designed by architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuro, with the inspiration of the typical shape of a house in light of it being a display of furniture for the home. The structure features 12 gable roofed stretched houses stacked ontop of one another. The gable roofed house is the same shape seen in made by Pen , I will be mimicking these stretched gable roof structures, in the wooded dog house style of the dog room however, to create similar interjections into the existing space as seen in Vitrahaus. They will oppose the materials of the existing space to continue to build on the constructivism aesthetic. (Vitra. 2010). Figure 58:VitraHaus, Germany. By Herzog and de Meuron. (Etherington, R. 2010) Initial sketches exploring ways that the stretched houses in the style of VirtaHaus could interject with the existing Rowing club structure.
