2. CONCEPT
A space that is tailored for people and dogs to
interact safely and hygienically, the materials
and design concepts chosen must be carefully
considered. It is imperative that the space is easy
to wipe, mop or spot clean regularly and when
immediately necessary, fabrics and upholstery
should all be resistant to wear, reducing risk
of tearing and marking when exposed to sharp
claws and teeth this is to ensure a long lasting
finish that to reduce waste and keep maintenance
costs low. All materials must be non- toxic, in the
case of accidental ingestion to insure no harm is
inflicted. The space has to be relatively open to
allow situations that could at time become quite
chaotic. Etc. dog yoga and training. There should
also be measures in place to ensure that flooring is
non slip all whilst being an accessible space. The
mud room, has a separate entrance for those who
have been walking their dogs and need to wash or
rinse and dry them before entering the space, in
this particular room, the exposure to moisture and
the hazards this can create should be considered.
Due to the location of the building , being on the
beach, right by the beach, the exterior materials
chosen should be resistant to weathering, as well
as stable and able to protect the space’ occupants
from the winds and cold that the building could at
times be exposed to.
