2 February 2026 Charbonneau Villager

News from the CCC Board

By JOE BROUILLETTE ASSET MANAGEMENT CHAIR

Celebrating a great first year

In December 2025 we completed the first year of combined operations with both tennis and pickleball under one roof. Here is the brief history:
2023— The Charbonneau Tennis Club welcomed pickleball and launched the Charbonneau Sports Center.
2024— The $ 1.5 building renovation to house pickleball and tennis was completed.
2025— Sports Center completed its first year of combined operations.
Member count through December 2025:
Pickleball- 315 Tennis- 360 Also our current financial performance is positive and meets our expectations.
The tennis club has a rich history of almost four decades serving members of the Charbonneau community as well as outside members.
After a steady increase in interest, pickleball was introduced as an amenity and added to the court offerings for Charbonneau residents only. It remains as a resident
amenity today and shares the Sports Center facility with tennis.
We offer our most sincere thanks to our members for their patience and cooperation during the construction and start-up phase of these combined operations.
We offer additional thanks and appreciation to the center staff and coach for their excellent leadership through the construction and launch period.
We have learned a lot in this first year of operation and we are making necessary adjustments to the operations in response to valuable feedback from members.
Most clubs find that integrating pickleball and tennis under one roof creates new challenges and we are no exception. We have exceptional leadership and a community with a spirit of unity, so, despite some start-up challenges, we are implementing changes with a continuous improvement mentality.
The operational dynamics are centered around a Governance Council and a firm operating charter. We are in the process of forming a new Governance Council as we continue to manage our combined growth.
We are currently forming a new council as we move forward, so I invite any current member to reach out to me with a letter of interest to learn about this important role in joining the council.
Please note your interest and experience in a brief letter and leave it at the info desk in the Activity Center.

Solo Sisters

By GAIL MANN

We have a fun schedule ahead

Our group, the Solo Sisters, will meet on Feb. 26, and we have a special treat in store for attendees! Susan Teague, a Charbonneau resident, will represent Durant at Red Ridge Farms and showcase their famous Oregon grown olive oil and wine. We will taste their wonderful olive oil at the upcoming meeting where it will also be available for purchase. Durant Farms is also known for its winery, spectacular views of the valley, beautiful nursery, gardens and a cute gift shop.
In January we met for happy hour at San Blas in Wilsonville. That is always a popular location for Solo Sisters and is well attended. During the January event we conducted a survey from our members regarding potential 2026 activities. Thank you ladies. This gave the planning committee invaluable information for finalizing this year’ s activities. For current members, as well as new members, 2026 is going to be a fun-filled year, with a mix of triedand-true evening events / activities and new things to try.
I mentioned in the last Villager column that, at our holiday party in December, instead of a gift exchange
Happy Valentine’ s Day!
we collected gift cards to donate to the Boys & Girls Aid. I’ m happy to announce that Solo Sisters donated $ 700 in gift cards that were then distributed to children in need. Well done ladies, thank you!
As a reminder, annual dues of $ 30 are due this month. You can pay Mary Costa on the Feb. 26 – cash only( no checks) or pay your dues at the Charbonneau Activity Center and drop your envelope in the exterior mail slot. Again, cash only in an envelope with Solo Sisters and your name clearly written.
If you want to experience Solo Sisters, please come to a meeting any month. We meet on the fourth Thursday of the month. If you are interested in attending Feb. 26, the deadline for registering is Feb. 23. You can attend one gathering free of charge before choosing to join. If you would like more information about Solo Sisters, contact Deanna Morgan at deannamorgan @ gmail. com. We hope to see you soon.
