ASCE MRLC - MEMPHIS 2025 WSCL AND PFATW WORKSHOPS The 2025 ASCE Multi-Regional Leadership Conference ( MRLC ) Occurred in Memphis , TN ., January 30 th – February 1 st . This conference involves ASCE Regions 1 , 2 , 4 , and 5 , and includes four workshops held concurrently : the Workshop for Section , Branch , and Institute Leaders ( WSBIL ), Eastern Region Younger Member Council ( ERYMC ), Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders ( WSCL ), and the Practitioner and Faculty Advisor Workshop ( PFATW ). The MRLC promotes the sharing of ideas amongst those involved in different facets of ASCE and connects individuals from different sections and regions of ASCE .

Three individuals represented NH-ASCE in the 2025 MRLC . Stephen Nolin ( UNH-ASCE President & Concrete Canoe Captain ) and Ryan Hilliard ( UNH-ASCE Professional Outreach Chair ) attended the WSCL representing the UNH-ASCE Student Chapter , and Dustin Wells ( NH Section / UNH-ASCE Practitioner Advisor ) attended the PFATW . One common theme throughout both workshops was the involvement and engagement of student members – how students can access the resources they need to be successful , how students can get the most value out of project team involvement , and how can students best connect with the industry . Insights from these workshops will help the NH Section reach goals involving increasing efforts to connect with , involve , and support student members .
Beyond these workshops , attendees of the event also had the opportunity to hear insights from ASCE National President-Elect nominees , Carrol Haddock and Kenneth Rosenfeld , the current ASCE National President- Elect , Marsha Bomar , and other ASCE leaders . Brock Barry , P . E ., Ph . D ., F . ASCE delivered a particularly impactful speech about difficult conversations and the importance of understanding other perspectives in arriving at resolution or compromise .
Everyone had some fun in the process as well – socials for the weekend included a technical tour and dinner at the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid ( pictured to the right from an upper-level viewpoint ), and dinner with live music at Grind City Brewery .
The weekend was successful overall , as it was packed with new connections throughout multiple ASCE regions including Region 1 , and
