Valentine ’ s Day shouldn ’ t only be about showing love to your fellow humans . For many Charbonneau residents , their love for their puppy is just as strong .
This month , we ’ re highlighting a few residents whose dogs exemplify the moniker of person ’ s best friend .
Judy Johnson and her 22-pound Havanese enjoy walking through the neighborhood , where they meet other human and pup tandems . For Judy , Jax ’ s infectious spirit has allowed her to get to know Charbonneau residents she never would have met otherwise . However , she said Jax ’ s list of Charbonneau acquaintances runs longer than her own . Judy appreciates that Jax keeps her up and active .
“ He ’ s a bundle of love . He absolutely loves everyone . He has friends he meets with ,” Judy said . “ He knows far more people in Charboneau than I know . He ’ s a very

friendly , very loving little puppy .”
Judy added that Jax , like other Havanese , is notably mischievous — often getting into things he shouldn ’ t like jumping on golf carts or stealing items . But Judy can ’ t help but love him anyway . At night , Jax rests on Judy ’ s lap and snuggles while wrapped in a blanket on her bed .
“ He adds constant companionship . He just has so much fun getting into things and being himself . I laugh at him all day long ,” she said .
Kathi Gray ’ s 9-year-old shih tzu terriers Buddy and Brittney , who are brothers and sisters , have helped immensely since her husband died three years ago . For one , they bring vibrancy to a house that would otherwise be quiet .
“ They ’ ve been my constant companions . They ’ re great dogs . I recommend anyone have such pets . They ’ re so comforting , fun and love you and bring so much joy in my life ,” Kathi said .
|
Buddy and Brittney ’ s personalities contrast markedly . While Brittney is the leader of the pack , Buddy is the runt of the litter and tends to follow Brittney ’ s lead . If Brittney wants to play with a toy , Buddy will acquiesce .
“ Brittney runs the household including me sometimes ,” Kathi said .
When Kathi plays tennis , Buddy and Brittney sit patiently on a towel outside , waiting for the match to conclude . When she comes home , Kathi ’ s two dogs are there to greet her .
“ They ’ re right there wagging their tails and happy to see me ,” she said .
Brittney and Buddy ’ s other pastimes include chasing squirrels in the backyard and watching television with Kathi .
“ They ’ re my angels . I don ’ t know what I would do without them ,” Kathi said .
Robin Wolf met her rescue dog Sidney , who she describes as rambunctious and energetic , a little over two years ago .
|
Robin says Sidney looks at her longingly when she wants to be petted and sleeps with her on her bed at night . Sidney also sits on Robin ’ s lap and enjoys back scratches .
“ She adds so much ,” Robin

Though a barker while on the leash , Sidney also alerts Robin to any potential threat at home .
“ She makes me feel secure ,” Robin said .
