LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Winter finally showed up to carry us into February . Warmer temperatures really kept the grass growing through the early winter months not allowing us to get to some of the detail aspects of the course that I wanted to get to . However , we were able to repair some necessary drainage areas to protect the infrastructure of the golf course .
The three areas that have been repaired so far are on # 10 , # 17 , and # 18 near the lake banks to prevent them from further erosion . On hole # 10 we were able to seal and stabilize the main drainage outflow where the lake begins to the right of the tee area . Hopefully this will prevent washout holes in the rough area from forming due to clogging and tears in the existing pipe . On hole # 17 we were able to back fill with clay and concrete pieces to fill in the wash area that was getting larger and closer to the fairway . Once the weather warms up , we will come back to the top of the area and add sod to try and regrow it for better stability . Hole # 18 was the most important area addressed so far . The existing drainage pipes ended where the wall ended at the corner before the green . We extended those pipes out past the end of the wall and then poured a concrete base to cap and hold the end of the wall and drainage pipes in place . This was a structural issue concerning the end of the bulkhead wall and eventual collapse . I am confident that my team solved this problem for many years to come . There are at least a dozen other areas we will be addressing in the upcoming months , but this is the important work that must be done to protect the golf course from erosion .
My maintenance team and I would like to Thank all of our members for their kind words of encouragement and positive attitude as we strive to make Eaglebrooke the best golf course it can be . There are a lot of challenges in the world today , and my team faces them daily head on to make the golf course better . I can ’ t thank them enough for the hard work and dedication they have shown , and none of this is possible without them . Thanks for letting me be your Superintendent , I am honored .
