How are you ensuring the comfort of your residents in light of the new changes ? “ At both the Residence and the Villa , the staff have really taken it upon themselves to bring creativity and spirited energy into the buildings . They recognize the weight of stress and sadness our residents and nursing staff are experiencing , and they are determined to distract them and keep them optimistic . For the last ten or so months , these departments have coordinated hundreds of spirit-themed days , travelling snack carts , busy buckets , family car parades , letter-exchange programs and more . “ We have gone to great lengths to ensure the comfort and safety of Briarcliffe residents . From creative in-room dining experiences to individualized engagement programming , virtual visits , virtual social engagement and more . We purchased and installed televisions for those residents who are in a quarantine / isolation period after being admitted . We created beautiful , socially distanced outdoor visiting spaces , we purchased outdoor heaters , we have a new outdoor structure for inclement weather visits . Do you have any creative workarounds you put together for residents during the pandemic ? “ We created beautiful outside visiting spaces for resident family visits ( when allowed ). We purchased outdoor heaters for those days that the sun is shining but the temperatures are too cool for comfort . Outside the building , we have a new structure for visits during inclement weather . We ’ ve also been able to host some of our musical entertainers outdoors in a socially distanced setting . We started a virtual visiting program from the very first day . Residents and their families can FaceTime , Skype or Zoom . Currently , we are taking advantage of a number of specialized programs that are available via the internet .
We also purchased a few cell phones for resident use so that it ’ s easier for families to connect . One of our residents has a weekly
