with literally no amenities to speak of . There was , as I remember , all of one hotel in town , and the only restaurants I recall were outside of town , primarily supporting nearby Blackwater Falls State Park . Fortunately for us , we ’ d booked a room in that local hotel months ahead of time , and so had our lodging covered . Where did everyone else stay ? No idea , but camping was almost certainly the choice of most attendees . Campgrounds ?
Didn ’ t need ‘ em . A huge , open area , just across the Blackwater River , which was right at the edge of town , was apparently approved for folks to set up camp for the weekend . Interestingly , the only way to access that camping area was to traverse the Blackwater River itself , at a spot which was actually the course ’ s first water crossing . Treacherous ? You bet .
