HOW TO EMBED YOUR CHARACTERS IN YOUR HEAD AND IN YOUR HEART By : Alice Orr

Describe your reactions and impressions in your journal pages . Focus on your gut . Dive deep into what you are feeling about the characters you are creating and the process of creating them . If you think this is a one-sided activity , that you make all the input and receive nothing in return , think again .
Your characters talk back to you as you record your experience with them . Listen with your imagination . Listen closely , and you will hear them . They reveal secrets they have been keeping from you . They confess lies they have told you and why they told them .
You are not losing your mind . You have found your mind — your writer ’ s mind . The place inside you where your characters live and breathe and speak . They are embedded there now , and in your heart too , exactly as they were born to be .
