SHIRLEY L. NUZZOLO
EAST CONCORD, Vt.– Shirley L. Nuzzolo, 78, of Oregon Road, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2017, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster after a long illness.
Nuzzolo was born in Boston, Mass. on April 18, 1938. She was raised and schooled in the Boston vicinity. For many years she was employed for various electronics companies as a soldering technician. Her first job was with the then-well-known company Automatic Radio Mfg.
Shirley moved to Vermont eight years ago to be close to family. During her remaining years she enjoyed spending time with her little companion Goldie and solving crossword puzzles.
Surviving family members include her children; a son Donald K. Nuzzolo and his wife Ruth of East Concord; a daughter Amy L. Kulsic of East Concord; two grandchildren, Lanie and Ryan Kulsic; a brother David Young and his wife Lorraine of Billerica, Mass.; a sister-in-law Leonora Young of Burlington, Mass. and in Lancaster. BRUNSWICK, Vt.– June C. Hook, 81, of Brunswick, Vt., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, after a brief illness and with her family by her side.
She was born in Groveton on June 1, 1935, and was the daughter of Benjamin and Mabel Merrill. She was raised in the Groveton area and attended Groveton schools.
June was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and greatgrandmother who always cared about others first and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a cat and dog lover, especially her German Shepard, and she loved to spend time caring for her African violets. She cherished time with her grandchildren, and June loved to be at home. June was an accomplished swimmer, and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She was very civic-minded, as well, and held many posts in her community, including as town auditor, ballot clerk, as a Justice of the Peace in Vermont, and she was an EMT on the local ambulance corps for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Hook of Brunswick, Vt.; two children, Dean Hook and wife Claudette of Brunswick, and Deborah Tetreault and husband Michael of Brunswick; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Watters, Thelma Johnstone, Edna Roy and Eleanor Wall.
Calling hours will be on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral will be held the next morning, Sat., Feb. 4, at 11 a. m. at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook. Burial will be in the spring at the Smith-Gardiner Cemetery in Brunswick.
