Claire leaves behind her three children, Gerald Owen and wife Paulette of Colebrook, Lynne Placey of Stewartstown, and Jeffrey Owen and wife Carol of Canterbury; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Frank H. Owen in 2005, and her sister, Golden Parsons.
Calling hours were be on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, from 6 to 8 p. m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. An Order of the Eastern Star service was held just prior at 5:45 p. m. A funeral service will follow the next morning at 11 a. m. at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook. Burial will be in the spring at the Colebrook Village Cemetery of which notice will be given.

Surviving family members include a son, Edward C Smith Jr. of Lancaster; two daughters, Verna M White of Lancaster, and Jodi A Rooney and husband John of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Sr. in 2014 and a granddaughter Kristal White in 1970.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster and will be announced at a later date.

John Henry Oleson
JOHN HENRY OLESON
LANCASTER – John Henry Oleson, age 70, of Lancaster, passed away at home on Feb. 9, 2017. John attended UNH, was a member of the National Guard, and retired after a long construction career.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gerri Oleson, and survived by his sister, Donna Hartford of Jefferson, and his brother Fred Oleson of Rumney. He leaves behind a loving wife, Jean Oleson, three children, Andrea Oleson Curtis, Benjamin Gaetjens-Oleson and Adam Oleson, as well as six beloved grandchildren, Payton, MacKenzie, Alex May, Imani, Isabella and Jackson. John was also blessed with a bounty of family and friends that he gratefully shared his life with.
John was a better man than he realized, as evidenced by the people who knew him and loved him despite his flaws. John’ s wishes were to forego formal funeral services. His family will gather in the spring to celebrate
JOYCE M. SMITH
LANCASTER – Joyce M. Smith, 85, of Water Street, died Saturday morning, Feb. 11, 2017 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster, after a recent illness.
Smith was born in Lancaster on Feb. 23, 1931 the daughter of Bradley and Verna Rae( Newman) Thomas. She was a lifetime resident of Lancaster attending Lancaster Academy. On April 3, 1948 she married Edward C. Smith of Lancaster.
Joyce worked many years as a deli / produce clerk for Butsons Supermarket. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, word puzzles, solitaire and collecting glassware. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary at John W. Weeks Post 3041, Lancaster.
Mable Bennett
MABLE BENNETT
GOFFSTOWN – Mable Bennett, 99, formerly of Colebrook, passed peacefully at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown on Feb. 8, 2017. She was born on Oct. 25, 1917, in Colebrook, a daughter to the late Almon and Belle Shallow.
Mable is lovingly remembered by her children, Rexford Bennett and family of Chichester, Ran-
