Also, we hope that deepening of our integration with the Zagreb Stock Exchange, who is our biggest individual shareholder, will help us attract foreign investors in the long run.

The outlook for 2025 remains optimistic, and we will continue to build on last year’s momentum, introducing new initiatives and projects that will further strengthen Macedonian capital market.

Project of the year: The medium-term development strategy for the Macedonian Stock Exchange that we created in collaboration with the EBRD.

Event of the year: The 23rd Annual Conference of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, which brought together around 30 expert speakers and over 200 industry professionals.

Change of the year: In 2024, we started to really focus on the inclusion of young people in the domestic capital market through various events, initiatives, collaborations, and ideas.

Accomplishment of the year: The Macedonian Stock Exchange joined EBRD’s new initiative for regional cooperation and capital markets improvement, alongside seven stock exchanges from the CSEE, as the only member from a non-EU country. This collaboration will strengthen regional stock exchange cooperation by identifying and implementing impactful projects that will advance regional capital markets and contribute to broader economic development, with all participating stock exchanges working as equal partners.

Word of the year: Education

Person of the year: I have to select the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as a legal person. EBRD has long been the MSE’s most significant institutional supporter and their help through initiatives such as the establishment of the Training Center, the creation of SEE LINK, the Corporate Governance Code, the ESG Reporting Guide, the recently completed medium-term MSE development strategy, and the latest projects for providing guidance to companies for a successful IPO, adapting the Central Securities Depository to the new legislation and performing an in-depth analysis of its current operational business model, has been invaluable and clearly demonstrates their dedication to fostering progress in the Macedonian capital market. That is why the EBRD has also been selected as the winner of the “Award for Contribution in the Field of Education and Development of the Securities Market” at the 2024 Annual Macedonian Stock Exchange Awards Ceremony.

Person of the year: Halkbank AD Skopje, the newest member of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, which joined our membership family this year, is the first member to join the MSE after seven years.
