MCDR remains committed to the laws and regulations in providing highest quality of services with efficiency and effectiveness, in its aim to sustain the stability and information security in order to encourage the investment environment, whilst coping with continuous progress in Fin-Teck mechanisms worldwide.
MCDR witnessed unprecedented growth since its inception in 1994. Its members reached 276, out of which are 146 brokerage firms, 59 custodians, 48 direct settlement members, 15 primary dealers and 8 registered owners. In 2022, the number of participants has risen to 19,037, with a slight increase of 0.5 percent compared to the year 2021.
MCDR offerings that the members benefit from are comprised of Depository and Registrar services in addition to other complementary services such as Lending and borrowing of securities, Pledge of securities, Certificate of authorization, Swift and statement of account services.
The market value of the deposited securities has risen to EGP 5 Trillion, USD 535 Billion, CHF 13.7 Billion, Euros 697.7 Million, Sterling 470 Million and Kuwaiti Dinar 274 Million for securities issued with foreign currency; with a total value of 5.5 trillion EGP based on the exchange rate declared by the Central Bank of Egypt on 31/12/2022.
The company’s settlement system in 2022 executed 11.4 million transactions with a total value of EGP 1,139 Billion (8 % from this total amount is settled by US Dollar); an increase of 12% in the value of transactions compared to 2021. Settlement risk is controlled by MCDR’s Settlement Guarantee Fund.
On the other hand, the Central Registry services saw an increase of 33% compared to 2021 through the conducting of 3,807 corporate actions on the behalf of the issuer companies in 2022 with. Moreover, the dividend & interest payments done through the company in 2022 reached 664 billion EGP with an increase of 5% compared to 2021.
Furthermore, the company realized a huge
peak in the offering of the e-signature services
as a certificate of authorization whereby it issued 28,779 certificates culminating a revenue of 62.7 million EGP, with an increase of 225% and 404 % for the issuance and the revenue respectively compared to 2021.
With the successes MCDR reached over the past year, it netted a profit of EGP 1,049 Million in 2022 as annual growth achieving a record of 112%.
With it upholding its commitment to laws, regulations in providing high quality services with efficiency and effectiveness, MCDR continues to support the market’s needs by keeping its operational systems up-to-date and adopting new ones to cope with global technological advancements.
