Damascus Securities Exchange achieved a significant result in 2022 in terms of all performance indicators. DWX, has increased to reach its highest value since the launch of DSE, which closed at (30,245) points with a percentage change of 73% compared to the previous year.
Trading volumes and values(excluding the value of Block trades) also had increased during the year 2022 compared to 2021, by a rate of 42% for trading volume and 122% for trading values This was due to the good performance of the listed companies, which was reflected in its periodic financial disclosures during the year, besides the relatively low stock prices compared to the depreciation of the local currency and the high rate of inflation, that encouraged investors to invest in stocks as a good investment opportunity.
As for the market capitalization value, it increased to exceed (5 trillion) SYP with a percentage change of (78.64%) compared to 2021.
Our main challenge in 2022 was to ensure DSE trading continuity under all circumstances.
During finalizing the process of relocation of DSE headquarters to be officially in Yafour, Eighth Gate; we had faced many difficulties (technical, operational, etc....) that coincided with pressures on Syrian economy.
Here, we point out and praise that this process would not have been successful without the concerted efforts of all employees, achieving the highest level of planning, implementation, professionalism and performance.
Most of our goals has been achieved. In terms of diversifying investment tools, treasury bonds have been listed to be included among the securities currently traded in DSE, after completing all the necessary legal and technical frameworks and systems.
Regarding DSE effort to increase the number of listed
companies, depositing of National Islamic Bank’ stocks was completed, to be listed later on in the exchange.
During last year, financial brokerage companies were supported to adopt online trading, in line with developing the surveillance system for this trading.
Moreover the electronic account was approved so that the investor can open a trading account remotely with brokerage firms without the need to come in person.
