The Damascus Securities Exchange suspended trading from 08/12/2024 to 01/06/2025.

Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) achieved a significant result in 2025 in terms of all performance indicators. The main index at DSE (DWX), has increased to reach its highest ever value since the launch of DSE of 198,943 before it closed at 137,888 points with a percentage change of 38% compared to the previous year.

As for the market capitalization value, it increased to exceed (24.9 trillion) SYP with a percentage change of 36 % compared to 2024.Trading volumes and values (including the value of Block trades) had decreased during the year 2025 compared to 2024, by a rate of 50% for trading volume and 45% for trading values.

Trading was suspended for six months, which significantly affected market activity. During this period, DSE faced challenges including outdated IT infrastructure, limited resources, limited economic activity in some sectors, and certain systems requiring updates or upgrade. Despite these challenges, the reopening of trading and government efforts to encourage investment are expected to increase the number of listed companies and diversify investment instruments on the exchange.

Despite the six-month trading suspension and operational challenges, Damascus Securities Exchange successfully achieved its main goals, and preparing the market for the reopening of trading.

Project of the year: The project of the year focused on restoring and enhancing market operations after the six-month trading suspension

Change of the year: A new Board of Directors has been formed for the Damascus Securities Exchange after a transparent election among listed companies and brokerage firms and the full list of members was issued by a decision of the Minister of Finance.

Accomplishment of the year: Damascus Securities Exchange reached a new milestone this year by achieving record performance across key market indicators. In addition, DSE has done all the tests to release the online trading services of Global One brokerage firm to be the 3rd licensed company to offer online trading.
