Position Sensors
With more than 500 parts covering over 30 million vehicles on
UK roads, Cambiare’s diverse range of engine position sensors accurately
communicate the engine position to the ECU. These sensors provide
calculable data that signals the ECU to trigger or inhibit fuel injection
and ignition relative to the engine’s operating conditions.
Making Sense of Engine Positions
Both camshaft and crankshaft sensors can be used in tandem
to monitor the relationship between the pistons and valves
in the engine. This is particularly crucial in variable valve
timing engines.
Camshaft Sensor
Located in the cylinder head to monitor the position of the
camshaft, camshaft sensors allow the correct timing of ignition.
Crankshaft Sensor
The crankshaft sensor detects the position of the crankshaft
and allows the ECU to calculate its position, relative to the
engine pistons.
The same sensor can be found in multiple locations in the
engine, including the crank pulley, flywheel and camshaft.
