COMMACK &
KINGS PARK
Trailer Fire
Story and Photos by Jeff DiLavore
On Wednesday, February 10th, the Commack Fire Department
was activated for a commercial structure fire in the vicinity of Old
Northport Road and Town Line Road. As Assistant Chief Bobby
Wilkins [2-11-33] was responding he was notified by Commack
Communications [2-11-0] that they were receiving several calls
with the location possibly being within the Kings Park Fire District. Upon arrival, Chief Wilkins advised he had an active fire in a
storage trailer to the rear of Pioneer Paving . As Commack units
arrived on scene they stretched two 1 ¾” hand lines to attack the
fire which was contained to the one trailer. Kings Park Fire Department also responded to assist with the operation under the direction of Assistant Chief James Purser [4-1-33]. Units operated on
scene for approximately 30 minutes.
Author’s note – Old Northport Road is the dividing line between the two districts
with Kings Park covering the north side and Commack covering the south side.
