VMware Unveils VMware Horizon Suite

VMware Horizon Workspace allows users to access files and folders for collaboration, along with high fidelity viewing of documents.

ate February saw VMware reveal their VMware® Horizon Suite™, a comprehensive platform for workforce mobility that will connect end users to their data, applications and desktops on any device without sacrificing IT security and control. With updates to VMware Horizon View™ and VMware Horizon Mirage™, as well as a new product, VMware Horizon Workspace™, the VMware Horizon Suite should enable IT organizations to empower users with a secure, easyto-manage virtual workspace that delivers a consistent, compelling experience across devices. For years, VMware’s end-user computing initiative focused

on View, its desktop virtualisation product. With the release of Horizon Suite, however, the company has combined management of physical desktops, virtual desktops and mobile applications. VMware Horizon Suite renames and updates some products users may already be familiar with, such as View and Mirage, and bundles them with Horizon Workspace, a brand-new overseer for Horizon Application Manager and Horizon Data. Horizon Mobile is expected to join the suite later in 2013. A report by Forrester Research Inc. finds the use of personal devices outside of IT control alarming — with 67 percent
