H oteliers need to ensure that when they procure screens, they are of the correct size to be comfortable for the guest to view, while maintaining international hotel trends. Currently the local hotel grading council maintains that screens should not be smaller than 32 inches in 3,4 and 5 star hotels. But the definitive factor in screen size is actually the viewing distance. 32” screens are only comfortable to be viewed within 3 meters, therefore 40” screens should be considered for 4 meter viewing distances, and in extremely large hotel suites even larger screens should be used. There are many inherent factors and benefits that Hospitality Displays offer hotels. They are designed to reduce the long term cost of ownership to the hotel and simply put they are easily installed with minimal maintenance staff intervention for their lifespan. This is achieved by their ability to be cloned and locked down – therefore once the desired settings have been chosen, management functions can be activated to lock out the set-up functions – rendering the screen tamper proof. These settings are then easily saved to a USB memory stick and merely copied to the next screen. The latest developments in Hospitality Displays also include a Wifi access point, resolving the difficult task of offering cost effective and reliable Wifi signals into the guest rooms. From an entertainment perspective, the modern traveller can mirror or synchronise their movies and pictures from their tablets and smart phones without frustrating cables and docking stations. TV content can be delivered over an IP Ethernet network to provide both Standard Definition and High Definition TV channels in the identical quality that the channels are broadcasted in.
