Inspirational Women Welcome to the latest issue of FD Insights. As Managing Director of First Distribution, I’ve always been proud to be a woman in addition to being the leader of the company, and I personally believe that women can do anything that they set their minds to. Running a successful business (within any industry) is only one such example. On that score, I’m proud that First Distribution has so many highquality women in our ranks, at all levels of the organisation. It’s women like these who have played a large part in making the company the success it is today. As a result, I’m thrilled that the theme of this issue is ‘Women at FD’. By no means are all the women at First Distribution featured in these pages, but the selected ones that do, speak for and give voice to, I think, all of us who work here. Women unfortunately still often face discrimination in the form of earning less and working harder to achieve recognition than their male counterparts, which makes it great to see so many of them flourishing at the very top levels of industry. At First Distribution we don’t hire for the mere fact that they are women, but truly want to offer equal opportunity at all levels. My wish is that the faces in this magazine will not only enable the reader to see the vibrant feminine culture alive and well here at First Distribution, but also serve as an inspiration to any women out there who are perhaps considering IT as a career choice.
