Our New Family Care Coordinator
Margaret Watkins Robison ( better known as Curly ) was born and grew up in Natchez , Mississippi .
After graduating from Natchez Adams County High School and Adams County Christian School , she attended and graduated from Mississippi University for Women ( the first public women ’ s college in the United States ) in Columbus , MS . She did Master ’ s work at MSCW on a specially created program on the architectural history of the newly renovated Mississippi Governor ’ s Mansion in Jackson , MS .
Settling in southwest MS in the small town of McComb , she became the mother of three sons and one daughter ( deceased ).
Involvement with the Presbyterian Church U . S . A took her on 11 mission trips to Belize and Mexico , where houses were constructed , and seasonal canning projects were taught to the Belizean women . She also served as Moderator of Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Mississippi .
With four children in public school , she became very involved in the McComb Public School System . Involvement in the PTA led her to being elected to two terms on the School Board where she served as moderator for her final two years on the Board .
Following divorce , she began a home-based catering business which she eventually moved to ” town ” with an added restaurant . Closing her business , she returned to Natchez to care for her elderly mother .
Several years following her mother ’ s death she decided it was time to “ move on ” and randomly chose Blue Ridge , GA as her new home ( without knowing a soul ). Almost immediately she began to volunteer at Fannin County Family Connection where she worked as a pantry volunteer for two years . On May 28 , 2024 , she , accepted the position of Family Care Coordinator , in a hope to serve more new and needy people ina new environment . From a Mississippi Magnolia to a Georgia Peach , she now calls Blue Ridge , GA home .
