Volunteer Appreciation
FCFC is also pleased to announce the hiring of Victoria Walker ( right ) as Marketing & Event Specialist , effective August 26 . “ I am actively pursuing my Bachelor ’ s Degree in Human Services Delivery and Administration at the University of North Georgia . Initially , I went into college planning to be a teacher , but I later found out that it was not the right field for me . I knew I wanted to help people in a different light and with the guidance of Jacqueline Mckee , Human Services became my calling . I started my internship in the summer of 2024 at Fannin County Family Connection and it was almost an instant feeling of being in the right place . I moved to Blue Ridge 13 years ago and this place I call home means so much to me . My passion is to help all members of the community . Sherry Morris and Jacqueline McKee have created the most insightful and compassionate experience for me at FCFC . I am blessed to have the opportunity to become the Marketing and Event Specialist at Fannin County Family Connection to create a difference and help as many people as we can .”
We ask that you support and encourage Sherry , Jacqueline and Victoria as they work through the upcoming changes and continue pursuing our Mission : Caring for families , connecting with resources , and collaborating with key organizations .
Planning is underway for a community celebration of Sherry ’ s contributions , accomplishments and good-will . Stay tuned for details !
Volunteer Appreciation
A total of 31 volunteers enjoyed a luncheon and fun networking time at the 2024 Volunteer Appreciation Day held on Friday , August 30 . Without our pantry volunteers , FCFC could not serve as many families in our communities . It is their dedication and work in stocking inventory and preparing food carts that allow so many families to be served . Approximately 50 people serve in the pantry on a regular basis . A mix of individuals attended , including pantry volunteers , Mineral Springs volunteers , some board members and FCFC staff .
A photo booth was set up sporting FCFC colors and many of the volunteers took the opportunity to have photos of their team members who serve together at their 2-hour shift at the food pantry .
Members of the local Marine Corps League Detachment # 1438 provided the cooking expertise as they prepared hamburgers and hot dogs for the group . Many thanks to The General Ledger for providing the lunch meats and bread . The Sweet Shoppe of the South provided delicious cookies that were enjoyed for dessert . Silks for Less donated silk flower stems to be used in the centerpieces at each table .
After an enjoyable lunch , raffles were held for gifts that had been donated by local businesses including : The Owl ’ s Nest , Neighborly , Three Sisters Fudge , and the Zen Salon and Spa . Many of the volunteers took home wonderful gifts from our area merchants .
We appreciate all the support from our community as we celebrated our volunteers .
