While tree trimming is necessary and good for the health and structure of the tree, FCCSA would like to remind you that excessive tree trimming or“ tree topping” is not allowed on shade trees. To completely remove branches to the point where the tree looks like the image above is a violation and you will receive a Deed Restriction Violation for trimming a tree in this manner. Current ANSI( American National Standards Institute) tree standards state that no more than 25 % of the tree canopy should be removed in a single growing season. FCCSA staff is happy to help answer any questions and provide any additional information on how to approach tree trimming if you have any questions or concerns. As always, we look forward to continuing to work with you on maintaining a wonderful community together.

English. Going back in time, the word“ bald” was derived from the word“ balde” which meant white or shining. It was used to describe the distinctive white plumage on the bird. The settlers translated their“ balde” adjective for the eagle’ s white head into“ bald” when referring to the American eagle. As a side note, eaglets don’ t gain their white feathers until approximately 4 or 5 years of age.
The Bald and Golden Eagle Act is the primary law that protects these national treasures. It prohibits anyone from killing, capturing, possessing, selling, purchasing, or transporting any bald or golden eagle without a federal permit. That prohibition extends to parts, feathers, nests, and eggs. It also states it is unlawful to disturb them which is defined as agitating or bothering an eagle enough to cause injury, disturb its breeding productivity, or cause the eagles to abandon their nest. Criminal and civil penalties can result in hefty fines and jail time.
If you’ d like a front-row seat to the fascinating lives of bald eagles, there are several live webcams available online. One of my absolute favorites is the Jackie and Shadow eagle cam from Big Bear Valley. The famous eagle pair is currently busy raising two fluffy eaglets, and you never know what you might see— feeding time, nest repairs, sibling squabbles, or one of the parents soaring in with a fresh fish. It’ s addictive, entertaining, and surprisingly heartwarming to watch these iconic birds up close in real time.
