activities by several
beverage firms in
Thailand:
Company :
Serm Suk
(subsidiary of Thai Beverage)
Investment Activity :
It will start exporting its Est cola to
Malaysia by end-2016. It also plans to
step up local marketing to bolster sales
of sports drinks and other products
in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and
Vietnam. It aims to raise exports to
20% of total sales by 2020 from 10%
presently. SermSuk will spend about 500
million baht ($14.4 million) to expand
production lines at plants in Khon Kaen
Province, in Thailand’s northeast, and
Surat Thani Province in the south, aiming
to turn the plants into export bases.

Malee Group
Investment Activity :
One of Thailand’s largest juice
producers. It has set up a joint
retail venture in the Philippines with
a domestic firm in 2015. Now, it is
considering similar joint-ventures In
Indonesia and Myanmar. Malee
projects exports to double its sales
from 2015 to 2018 to reach Bt 10 billion
(US$285 million).

Tipco Foods
Another major juice producer which
is setting its sight on the Philippines
market. It hopes to lift exports to 25%
of total sales by expanding its sales
channels over the next 5 years.
Thai Beverage
Ichitan Group
It has disclosed interest to buy Vinamilk,
Vietnam’s largest dairy producer. In
2012, it bought over Singapore’s Fraser
& Neave (F&N) for US$8.77 billion.
