Lowest , Hottest , Driest
If you want to ride across the lowest point in North America — in an area that is also one of the driest and holds the record for hottest ambient temperature ever recorded on Earth ( 134 degrees )— you have two options : the paved Badwater Basin Road or the 36-mile gravel West Side Road , which runs roughly parallel on the other side of the valley . With daytime temperatures averaging above 90 degrees from April through October ( and highs well into triple digits ), if you decide to do it we recommend tackling Death Valley National Park during the short daylight hours in November through February .
