Forget Zumba – influential models , actors , and TV personalities are all hooked on the latest fitness craze ; boxing ! Cara Delevingne , Jake Gyllenhaal , Eva Mendes , Angelina Jolie and Will Smith have all credited the sport for its body strengthening and toning capabilities . Boxing requires a fusion of physical and mental robustness and so can be considered an effective activity for a confidence boost and release of stress . Boxing also requires discipline and a skilful technique and maintains interest better than other more monotonous forms of athletics and it can also be learnt as an empowering strategy for improved self defence .
DIESEL BLACK GOLD MILITARY TRAINER – SPRING / SUMMER 2017
The new found allure of exercise in British society is reflected in fashion . V neck , lace-up trainers and pumps have been voted Vogue ’ s Autumn / Winter 2016 shoe of choice . Designers including Stella Jean , Phil Plein , MSGM , Diesel Black Gold and Markus Lupfer have graced the Spring / Summer 2017 catwalks with their imaginative versions of the classic sporting shoe . Prominent sport brands such as Adidas also feature heavily across high street retail . Sweatshirts , crop tops , hoodies , tracksuits and t-shirts have all made their way into the more artistically inclined and contemporary brands ’ autumn offerings ( e . g . Topshop / man ). Clothes shopping now induces notable 90s nostalgia with the ‘ Sporty Spice ’ tracksuit bottom and the choker ’ s victorious return .

this demographic are also honouring the return of the 1960s ’ Boxer Trainer which has been adorned by dynamically dressed divas such as Rihanna , Kylie Jenner and Cara Delevingne and subsequently spread across social media like wildfire . The lace-up shoe has a quirkily retro aesthetic , a cross between an ice skate and a bowling shoe , and has been dressed up and down with skirts , leggings and skinny jeans ..
The edgy boxing trainer defines the unconventional 1960s era and is a welcome addition to some of the more bland sporting collections . The trainer can also be worn as a feminist statement or by both sexes as a powerfully symbolic reference to strength and courage . FL
