Fluorescent fashion lit up the runway at New York Fashion Week ’ s Spring 2017 show . Alexander Wang ’ s line encompassed the spirit of the summer with beach themes , lifeguard whistles , palm tree prints and a splash of neon . The casual collections ’ sweatshirts , caps , shorts , bags , tracksuits and dresses all inventively incorporated this vibrant hue . Designer Jason Wu showcased a more refined revision of neon with seams , feminine appliqué flowers and floaty evening wear gowns . The designers certainly set the city ’ s catwalk ablaze with these opposing neon trends .
Society could do with a new lick of luminous paint for 2017 and this upbeat trend visually conveys buoyant hope , optimism and courage . Neon is an unintimidated clothing shade which has been taken on by Beyoncé and even Her Majesty the Queen , whose lime green 90th birthday dress drove the internet into a frenzy with # neonat90 and # highvishighness trending and many wishing to imitate the look . These real life role models are appropriate ambassadors for this comforting shade of solace . Neon has however previously been associated with tasteless styling tendencies ( dare I mention the eighties !) and so , in order to avoid the makings of a migraine , should be coordinated well and balanced evenly with make-up , hair and accessories .
Many fashion forward high street retailers including ASOS and Topman / Topshop have neon clothing amongst their current offering . Bags , accessories and make – up are also available for those who wish to initially dabble with this

Whether it ’ s Her Majesty the Queen at 90 , this stripy offering from TopShop , some bright accessories from New Look , fluoro Converse kicks or one of Mac ’ s latest Rainbow range lipsticks , neon ’ s got it temerarious tint . New Look have an eye-catchingly affordable assortment of bags , bracelets and necklaces . MAC have also embraced the perks of the paint palette and have launched an unrestricted rainbow range of lipsticks with bright oranges , turquoise and blue . So maybe it ’ s time to banish the bitter weather blues and erase ingrained childhood memories of neon shell suits and cycling shorts and welcome neon into our wearisome wardrobe and our world . FL
