1950’s- Glamour, Style and Class
Fashion began with Christian Dior’s “New Look” which was introduced in 1947.
Post WWII other styles became popular like the tailored, feminine look with gloves and pearls; tailored suits with fitted jackets and peplums; pencil skirts.
1950’s development of new synthetic and easy-care fabrics;
Wartime restrictions had been lifted but fashion did not loosen its belts.
Fabrics like NYLON were keeping silhouettes close to the body and gave more elasticity and staying power to leisure wear, lingerie and socks.
