FO: How is the transition from acting to singing for you? Which do you prefer?
KR: I’ve always done both, and I love both the same. But music is where it starts. Music is my first love.
FO: So is there a special lady in your life that has inspired your new single, “Love Somebody?”
KR: Well, it’s more so my take on how men and women relate, I’m like a third party and the song is like a PSA for people not be afraid to open up to love and all its experiences.
FO: How has your style evolved over the years? Have any projects you’ve done inspired your style?
KR: I’ve matured over the years when it comes to my style. I’ve always stuck with a pretty
conservative and masculine look.
My style has been inspired by all my projects in some way. I actually make sure to keep pieces from movies and shows and add them to my wardrobe and inspiration.
Keith Robinson has surely earned his crown in Black Hollywood Royalty. Fashion Odds caught up with the Dreamgirls star to talk music, acting and not only making Black History, but history today, with all of his achievements.
FO: Can you tell us a little more about your Love Episodic Project?
KR: Love Episodic is a play on words, incorporating the flow of an ‘episode.’ It’s also is a play on words relating to my career, because both have their ups and downs. There’s a clear beginning, middle and end, as well as a climax. There’s kind of a cinematic set up to the flow of music.
FO: What person(s) of color have had an influence over you and your career journey?
KR: There are many but the first that come to mind are Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, Jamie Foxx and President Obama.
