If you’re ever lucky enough to visit (and I
recommend you do), try and find a good
bargain in a tour guide. Our’s was fantastic
and whilst I have to shamefully admit I didn’t
listen to everything he said due to my apparent
inability to concentrate in 45 degree heat, they
provide a spectacular insight into the history
and story behind its construction. They also
clear the crowds so you can get a photo on
the same seat that Princess Diana did!
I received mixed reviews of India prior to my
departure, many even told me not to bother
going, but I am so grateful I did. Culture and
cuisine aside, my favourite part of the entire
experience would be the people.
The hospitality I received is something
I cannot compare. Everywhere I visited I
was greeted with flowers and kisses, songs
and stories and of course, an array of
questions about Australia and if I was used
to the humidity yet, at which point they would
immediately switch on their air conditioners.
India was an incredible experience, but having
only seen one city, another visit is definitely
necessary and I cannot wait to go back!
However I think I’ll be laying off the butter
chicken for the meantime, for the sake of
my waist line.
