CONTROVERSIAL ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

In reality, 14 year olds are not normally the type to wear womans clothing and for a model to be displaying this sophisticated look at such a high end price, it came as a shock to many people. Connotations of this advert suggest that the model looks depressed due to her slumped over body language and how she is crying. The idea of suicide springs to mind however this is not what Miu Miu wanted to demonstrate

This over rules the surface message of advertising the clothes and makes the campaign more about the model than the product itself. The Advertising Standards Authority deemed this advert unacceptable and misleading due to the hazardous location and the underlying connotations of the advert.

With this polysemic meaning, Miu Miu had to remove this advertisement from its campaign.
