Week one began with stress, sweat and tears... I wasn’t able to attend the museums because I had a virus so my research wasn’t completed and it wouldn’t be done in time for the due date, however I did get through it with help. I enjoyed the project because I was learning in depth about fashion history and how the world has changed over time in many different countries.
By week two I was more prepared and organised for what was to come, so I didn’t have too many worries going through my mind at once. Although I struggled with incorporating my backgrounds to the eras, in my sketchbook, I used my creative side to develop an understanding of the different era’s, for example, in the war times I would have dull back grounds where as for the 50s and 60s I had brightly coloured wallpaper.
Week three was a mixture of emotions, Joomag was so hard!! It made me feel less confident about my work where as my scrapbook was interesting and I learned a lot about the V&A museum. By visiting the V&A museum, I felt better about my capability of getting the work completed, where as in week one I was too unwell to visit the other museums. At the V&A I took lots of photos and background information to adapt into my sketchbook and create a couple of pages onto it. This week I focused more on my sketchbook because I wanted to start my ‘Get The Looks’ of the eras that I had chosen. I thought that my V&A ‘Get The Look’ went well because I found a good outfit from the 1960s and had some background knowledge to incorporate into the research.
In week five, I was half way through PFBR which is my first unit of Joomag, I think I am aiming well and using my time wisely, however it is hard to keep up to date when I have about four things to be doing at once. I struggled with spacing out my work and fitting it on my pages, for example, my glossary is over crowded however I don’t mind it too much because it is only two pages, at least they are not all like that.
I found it hard to keep my article flowing and keep the reader interested if I was to publish my magazine. I would say I have made a good amount of progress, I made a mind map to put my thoughts down, this helped me to remember what to write and how I was going to write it in which order. I like the way my Joomag is looking so far.
In week seven I was focusing on uploading my articles and videos to Joomag and creating pages for them, I spent a lot of my time on Joomag at this stage so I was keeping on track with both my sketchbook and Joomag. For my location pages, I used Thing Link, at first I didn’t understand the lay out and how to upload it to my Joomag, after working on it and playing around with it I became confident with it.
In week eight, I just realised I needed to create a bibliography for Joomag and my sketchbook, so on the 29th I began to find where I got my research from for my sketchbook, this took me a day to find everything specifically. Once I had finished the bibliography, I began to carry on with my Joomag and finish my sketchbook. I was disappointed that I didn’t use a variety of research resources, I wish I looked at books, magazines and other social things.
Week nine I focused on my sketchbook because that was the easiest for me and usually the most enjoyable. I included all of the work that was set for completion. Finally, week ten... it was almost over! By week ten I had just finished my sketchbook so I put that to the side, I carried on with my Joomag and completed things that hadn’t been finalized. I struggled with my introduction to the
magazine, I looked for inspiration from other magazines but they were telling stories, I didn’t want to do that, I wanted to get straight to it and tell the viewers what they were going to see. It was Wednesday 7th December and I was finishing the left over bits of Joomag that I really wanted to avoid however some I enjoyed, I liked to create my own pages and know I don’t always have to put a background in. The hard part was finishing the articles that had a precise amount of words and I didn’t want to go under or over. Typing up the evaluation wasn’t too hard because I had written what I was doing over the weeks anyway. The bibliography was difficult because most of my research I either had knowledge of or other people had knowledge, I didn’t need to use many websites except for photos however I wanted to have a variety of different websites.
